Good morning, friends. I`m...How much do you know about Hainan?Ok,let me tell you something about it.

There is an island at the southern end of China. It is like an emerald gem, embedded in the vast blue waters of the South China Sea. This island is Chinas 31st province, the second largest island after Taiwan, and it is named Hainan Island. The island covers a total area of 34,000 square kilometers. The following is a brief introduction to this island.

  Geographical Location

Hainan Island is the second largest island of China, almost as large as Taiwan Island. The west of the island borders the Golf of Tong Kin, with Vietnam visible in the distance. The east of the island is near to Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the Philippines. The south of the island adjoins Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore. Haikou, the provincial capital of Hainan is 50 minutes away from Hong Kong by air.

  Climate

Hainan Island has monsoon tropical climate with annual average temperature 22℃-26℃ and annual rainfall of 1500-2000mm. More than 300 days in a year are sunny. Hainan is a good place for escaping from cold weather, relieving summer heat, having holidays and traveling as a result. It is honored as the Hawaii of the Orient.

  Ecological environment

Hainan Island has been developing with the natural environment well protected. The forest covers about 58.48% of Hainan Island. At present, there are five tropical primeval forest areas on Hainan Island: Wuzhishan Forest Area, Bawangling Forest Area, Jianfengling Forest Area, Diaoluoshan Forest Area and Limushan Forest Area.

  Tourist resources

Hainan Island lies between the tropics and the subtropics with rich natural resources. All domestic and foreign tourists will be enchanted by the blue sky, white clouds, bright sunshine, long coast line, beautiful bays, white sandy beaches, coconut scenery and charming sea on Hainan Island. A.E.Saviqnac, former Secretary General of world Tourist Organization commended Hainan during his visit, "Hainan Island is a beautiful pearl of China and the whole human beings, possessing the most precious resources of China. The status of Hainan to China is just like the Mediterranean to Europe and the Hawaii or Florida to America". Francesco Frangialli, Secretary General of World Tourist Organization also spoke highly of tourism in Hainan during his visit. He said that he would help Hainan go global and become a holiday paradise to all tourists from home and abroad.

  Preferential policy

Hainan Province has series preferential policies for tourism development. It is the first one in China to issue the "Regulations of Tourist Management of Hainan Province" and "Rule of Tourist Management of Hainan Province" for protecting the rights of tourists and tourism developers with law. Moreover, Hainan implements the policy of "Landing Visa" (Visaing on Landing). The foreigners as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Compatriots, who come to Hainan for investment, trade, exchanging economic technology, visiting or travelling, can go through the entry procedures at the ports of Haikou or Sanya, which needs only several minutes.

  Transportation

Transport and communication lines link up all parts of the province. Hainan has two airports---Haikou Meilan Airport and Sanya Phoenix Airport. Both have opened air routes to many cities around the world. The railway crossing Qiongzhou Strait and the western expressway are under service; the eastern light railway system is under construction; the round-island expressway and the all-directional high-class highroads lead to all major tourist cities and attractions. You can take a round-island tour by self-driving. All these make transportation easy in Hainan by “one step on accelerator leading to the destination”.

  Haikou city

Haikou is well-known as Sunny Haikou, Recreational City, and Elegant Capital.

Ladies and Gentlemen: Now you are at the beautiful city with coconuts everywhere. It is the capital of Hainan Province, Haikou City. It is also called the city of coconut palms. Haikou City lies in the northern part of Hainan Island. It borders on the Qiongzhou Strait in the north. It covers a total area of 2364.8 square kilometers and has the permanent population of 1.5 million. The coastline of the city is over 140 kilometers long. The city has an average temperature of 23.8℃. It is the center of politics, economy, culture & education of Hainan Province. As for transportation, it has the easy access by sea, by land, and by air. Haikou is an international tourist city with nice tropical scenes and beautiful seaside attractions as well. The city has been awarded with more than ten national prizes, including “China’s Excellent Tourist City”, “National Example for Environment Protection”, “Top Ten Cleanest Cities”, “and China Human Inhabitation Prize”, etc. It will be developed into a prosperous city of sightseeing, conventions, business and recreations.

Now let me tell you something briefly about Haikou’s history. The city has the history as long as over 2000 years. It is named Haikou for its location where Nandujiang River flows into the ocean. Haikou has been developed into a very important port for both national trade and international trade. After TIANJIN TREATY in 1848, it became an international trade port. About ten countries established their consulates in Haikou. The City of Haikou was founded in 1926. It was liberated on 23d, April, 1950. On 13th, April, 1988, the Central Government approved to establish Hainan Province and Hainan Special Economic Zone. Since then Haikou City has become the capital of Hainan Province and played the role of the window for the Hainan Special Economic Zone. There has been a great change in this place.

Ladies and gentlemen: next I’d like to talk something about the main roads or streets in Haikou. They include Haifu Avenue, Haixiu Avenue, Longkun Road, Jiefang Road, and Binhai Avenue. East Haixiu Avenue is officially listed as one of the 100 National Model Shopping Streets. West Jiefang Road is an old shopping street where the business of clothes, home electric appliances, jewelry and CD & VCD products are thriving. South Longkun Road is prosperous with local seafood restaurants and night clubs. Binhai Avenue is charming for its rich tropical attractions. Variety of restaurants and tourist shops, and Haikou Gym, Wanluyuan Park, Haikou People’s Congress Hall are located on this avenue.

Some tourists are anxious to know the sites of interest to visit in Haikou. There are many tourist attractions here, such as Wugongchi ( Five Officials Memorial Temple), Hairu Tomb, Xiuying Cannon Fortification, Holiday Beach, the People’s Park of Haikou, Jinniuling Park and the world-class Volcanic Crater Park. Recently, a grand show called Impression Hainan which is taken on every night in the west coast of Haikou City with the real ocean as its background. It is directed by the most popular director in China Mr. Zhang Yimou and his two close partners: Ms. Wang Chaoge and Mr. Fan Yule.

Ladies and Gentlemen: As the capital of the youngest province in China, Haikou is progressing towards the brilliant future in high spirits. There is one saying that can outline the City of Haikou, i.e. it started from a small city, now it has the scale of the medium city, but it has an air of the grand city. With the completion of Haikou Bay and the other grand projects, Haikou will show a new appearance of an international metropolitan city. Haikou will be built into the most elegant and the most beautiful provincial capital in China. Everybody, you’re welcome to Haikou. Haikou invites you forever.

  Good morning, ladies and gentlemen!

Welcome to our beautiful coastal city of Sanya. Firstly, Id like to briefly introduce Sanya.

Sanya is located in the southernmost part of Hainan Island at the 18°north latitude, or the same latitude as the southern end of Hawaii, Americas world famous tropical resort. Sanya has a tropical ocean climate. Temperatures average 25.4℃ throughout the year. June is the hottest month with average temperature of 28℃, while January is the coldest, temperature of 21.6℃. There are 2476.9 hours of sunshine each year, while annual rainfall averages 1392.2mm. Flowers, trees and other plants are in full blossom throughout the year, so Sanya is known throughout China as a “natural greenhouse. It is especially suitable for growing crops during the winter. Indeed, Sanya has become famous as a production base for winter melons and other fruit and is also a key nursery for different plants. Due to its unique tropical coastal city, Sanya has become not only one of Chinas tourist resorts, but an important international tropical beachfront tourist destination as well. It can be seen as a resplendent pearl adorning Hainan Islands jadegreen land.

Sanya has a long history and lots of places interest. However, in ancient times Sanya was call Yazhou and because it was inaccessible and wild, the city and surrounding area were seen as dangerous places to travel to. Indeed, the Qin Dynast banished exiled officials to Sanya. During the Tang Song and Yuan Dynasties alone, more than 50 officials were exiled here, including some outstanding and high-ranking ones. They were sent thousands of miles away from civilization and could never return. Thus Yazhou was known as”the gate of hell“. However the unique natural landscape, rich local products and the simple Sanya life-style changed the psychology of some people.

Every part of Sanya is adorned with coconut groves. These groves and the trees that cover 60% of the city and its downtown landscape-green plants cover 40% of the central city-make for a close harmony between Sanya and the natural environment. In fact, Sanya is Chinas most beautiful topical garden and was included among the countrys first group of eco-demonstration cities. Its tourism resources are unique in China, even theworld, making the city a choice destination for vacationers. Sanyas mountains, rivers, sea and harbors are harmoniously united and the city has the ten key tourism resources of ”sunshine, seawater, sandy beaches, climate, forests, hot springs, ethnic culture, idyllic fields and grottoes“. Sanya has two 5A-rated tourism districts, the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone and Wonders of the Mountain and Sea, or Paradise Caves for Celestial Beings. The city also boasts three 4A-rated districts, the Yalong Bay National Resort, Tianya-Haijiao Park ( the End of the Earth), and Wu Zhi Zhou Island Resort. In addition to these attractions, the island has many other different scenic sports with unique characteristics. Indeed, Sanya has gained the reputation of ”Not Hawaii, but overshadows Hawaii“, for its jade-like azure waters, silky beaches, rainbow-shaped bays and picturesque scenes.

Look ahead, please! These flowers are called bougainvillea and are Sanyas official flower. Behind them lies an 18-km long coconut landscaping belt. It is famous both at home and abroad. Sanya is an inspiring land of longevity and is highlighted by its unparalleled bays with crystal-clear sea water, unspoiled sandy beaches, diversified coral clusters, shells and tropical fish. Sanya has recently refurbished its river and ocean sides with view platforms and built gala squares, staircase berths and viewing over walk bridges, as well as other recreational and entertaining facilities. This construction emphasizes the citys eco-culture and the mangrove views of ”egrets perching on mangrove branches while fish and crabs swim under the roots“. All these efforts have led to emergence of a series of landscaping belts incorporating sightseeing, recreational and commercial activities as a whole. All of this had made Sanya into a city with stronger tropical atmosphere in comparison to other tourist metropolises. It really is an international tropical beachfront tourist destination and the paradise for tourists.

Friends, here we are. Lets be at ease and melt into the international sightseeing destination.

Friends, the Da Xiaodongtian Tourist Area is adjacent to the Nanshan Buddhist Cultural Park, both located on Nanshan Mountain and facing the South China Sea. As a tourist destination, the Da Xiaodongtian Tourist Area was developed relatively early and originally stood alone. In May 1999, through asset reorganization, it became part of the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Area.

The Da Xiaodongtian Tourist Area, formerly known as the Haishan Qiguan Tourist Scenic Area, covers an area of 377 hectares. It is located at the foot of Nanshan Mountain together with the Nanshan Buddhist Cultural Park, and is only seven kilometers away along the coastal road. The mountain is densely covered with vegetation and boasts beautiful scenery. Nearly 30,000 dragons Blood trees (evergreen pines of Nanshan) are lush and verdant. There are clear springs and various wild animals in the mountains. The seven-kilometer-long coastline at the foot of the mountain winds and twists, and is dotted with ingenious and lifelike stone scenes. Therefore, it has been called the "Sea Mountain Wonder" since ancient times.

As early as the Southern Song Dynasty, Zhou Kang, who successively served as the governor of Yazhou, and MAO Kui, who served as the military governor, successively opened up mountains and expanded the scenery, turning this place into a tourist destination. It has been over 800 years since then. It can be said that this is the oldest tourist attraction that was valued and developed by government officials in ancient times. The former administrative center of Ya Zhou was now Ya Cheng Town, Sanya City, which is only about ten miles away from here. It is recorded that they did not take the dry road but came by boat around the sea and then left the boat to land. One can imagine how thick the forest was at the foot of Nanshan Mountain at that time. MAO Kui was deeply in love with Nanshan. After leaving office, he did not return to the imperial court to report on his duties or go back to his hometown to reunite with his family. Instead, he secluded himself in Nanshan and spent the rest of his life there. Later generations once built a temple here to worship him. Since the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, this place has been visited by a continuous stream of tourists, and the mountains are filled with poetry and prose. It has been highly praised as the top of the Eight scenic spots of Yazhou, and it is said that it was once hailed as the first scenic spot of Zhu Ya. The scenic area still retains cliff carvings such as "Xiaodongtian", "Diaotai", "Haishan Qiguan", "Xian Ladders", "Xian Rens Feet" and "Jianjian Peak", which are important historical and cultural relics of Hainan.

Wuzhizhou Island is located within the Yalong Bay Scenic Area in Hainan. It is a vacation paradise that quietly shines behind the beautiful scenery of Yalong Bay. Some people once called it the Maldives of China. More people regard it as a paradise after escaping the mundane world with their lovers, because it has a more romantic and catchy name: "Lovers Island". As a must-visit tourist attraction for middle and high-end tourists in Hainan, Wuzhizhou Island integrates the richness and uniqueness of tropical island tourism resources.

The entire island is in an irregular butterfly shape, covering an area of 1.48 square kilometers. It is 1,500 meters long from east to west and 1,100 meters wide from north to south. The coastline is 5.7 kilometers long, and the highest peak in the south is 79.9 meters above sea level.

The east, south and west sides of the island are covered with lush greenery. Over 2,700 species of native plants belonging to 85 families are flourishing. There are not only tall and straight trees but also lush shrubs. Among them, there are not only strange flowers and trees like the tree fern that have been passed down from the dinosaur era, but also the dragons blood tree, the oldest plant that has survived on Earth so far and is known as the "longevity star of Earths plants". Parasitic and strangled tropical plant landscapes can be seen everywhere.

The rocks along the coast are jagged and steep, piercing the sea. The surging waves crash against the shore, presenting a magnificent scene. The mountains, forests and grasslands in the middle undulate and meander, with green shadows swaying gently. The northern beach is calm and the waves are still. The sand is white and fine, as if a jade belt were naturally formed.

Wuzhizhou Island enjoys the reputation of "Chinas No. 1 Diving Base". The surrounding sea area is clear and transparent, with water visibility ranging from 6 to 27 meters. The waters are rich in night light snails, sea cucumbers, lobsters, mackerels, sea urchins, pomfret and colorful tropical fish. The southern waters have well-preserved coral reefs on the seabed, making it one of the few islands in the world without any mixed reefs or pebbles. It is the best diving base in the country. Looking into the distance, the sea is vast and misty, blending into one with the sky.

Wuzhizhou Island was formerly known as Guqizhou Island and Niuqizhou Island. Both of these names have different origins.

The Wanquan River originates from the confluence of the Wuzhishan and Limu Mountains, flows through Qionghai, nourishes the fertile land of Qionghai, and rushes in a mighty force to Boao before empties into the South China Sea. The emerald green river water, the verdant riverbanks, the civilized villages and the simple people form a series of picturesque scenes. It is not an exaggeration to call them ecological rivers or green rivers.

The Wanquan River has a long history, beautiful legends, profound culture and rich folk customs. Legend has it that the Wanquan River was originally called "Duohe". The crown prince of Emperor Wuzong of the Yuan Dynasty, Tutiemu er, was exiled to Qiongzhou by Emperor Yingzong because of "Jianggou Yitu". He was treated with kindness by the gentlemen and officials. He often accompanied the crown prince on a tour of the Duohe River, drank and drank to relieve his sorrows, and "offered him three hundred pieces of gold to marry a green plum." In 1320 AD, the Crown Prince was summoned back to the capital. The officials led the people to see him off by the Du River and shouted together, "May the Crown Prince be safe and sound!" and "May your journey be safe and sound!" In 1320, the Crown Prince ascended the throne as Emperor Wenzong. In the same year, he issued an edict to Wen, enfeoffing Wang Guan as the governor of Nanjian to repay the kindness of his savior in the past. The "Duohe" was named "Wanquan River" to express gratitude to the people for their "Wanquan" dedication. After Emperor Wenzong returned to the capital, he missed the beautiful natural ecology of the Wanquan River and the simple and kind people day and night. For this reason, he named a road called "Wanquan River Road" in Beijing. The river beside Peking University was named "Wanquan River".

This legend interprets a new concept of tourism along the Wanquan River. It is not only an ecological river, but also a "imperial river" and a civilized river. When people visit the Wanquan River, they follow the course that Emperor Wenzong once toured, admiring the original natural scenery on both banks, recalling the long history of the river, feeling the kind and simple people and the civilization of their homeland on both banks, and thus experiencing the emotion of being one with nature and coexisting with heaven and earth.

Welcome everyone here. Now let me introduce it to you all!

Sanya Nanshan Temple is located within the Sanya Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone. It is a large temple that imitates the style of the prosperous Tang Dynasty and is situated on a mountain facing the sea. Nanshan Temple was personally selected by the late President of the Buddhist Association of China, Zhao Puchu. It was approved by the State Administration for Religious Affairs and laid the foundation on November 11, 1995, and completed on April 12, 1998. There are currently a group of buildings imitating the Tang Dynasty, including the Renwang Hall, the Tianwang Hall, the Bell Tower, the Rotating Wheel Vault, the East and West Climbing Corridors, the east and West side Halls, and the Golden Hall, with a total construction area of 5,500 square meters. The entire building is grand and imposing. It is the largest Buddhist temple newly built in China in the past five decades and also the largest temple in southern China.

Since ancient times, famous temples have produced eminent monks. The abbot of Nanshan Temple is Venerable Xin Cheng, an 86-year-old eminent monk, and the supervisor is Venerable Ming Sheng, vice president of the Buddhist Association of China. At present, the second phase of the Nanshan Temple project has been initiated. According to the planning and design, the second phase of the project follows the characteristics of ancient large Buddhist temples, which are square and uniform with clear priorities. The main buildings will be concentrated on the central axis, and 12 quadrangle courtyards with different functions will be set up on both sides. After the completion of the second phase of the project, the entire Nanshan Temple will be 188 meters wide from east to west and 416 meters long from north to south, with a total of 8 steps and a height difference of 49 meters. The total construction area will be 40,000 square meters.

In conclusion, Nanshan Temple is a modern Buddhist temple that integrates Buddhist culture, architecture and gardens, as well as sightseeing and relaxation. In 1993, the Hainan Provincial Government specially invited Master Yuanzhan, a well-known elder in the domestic Buddhist circle and the abbot of Qixia Mountain in Nanjing, to select a site and build a site in Nanshan Temple, and officially appointed Master Yuanzhan as the first abbot of Nanshan Temple. Master Yuanzhan came to Nanshan to select a site for construction and officially appointed Master Yuanzhan as the first abbot of Nanshan Temple. Master Yuanzhan, originally from Jiangsu Province, is now 86 years old. He concurrently serves as the preparatory group leader of the Buddhist Association of Hainan Province and a regular member of the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Chinese Peoples Political Consultative Conference. Sanya Nanshan Temple and Nanshan Temple are synonymous and have been merged.

Today, our tour group arrived at Fenjiezhou Island. Why is it called Fenjiezhou Island? Let me tell you! Fenjiezhou Island is a small island surrounded by a sea. In the middle of the blue sea, there is a green dividing line. To the left of the dividing line is the tropical zone and to the right is the subtropical zone. Standing at the highest point of Fenjiezhou Island and looking into the distance, the sea and the sky blend into one, which is extremely beautiful.

Fenjiezhou Island also has many Marine recreational activities. The most famous one is undoubtedly diving: there are dolphin diving, far-sea diving, coral reef diving, etc. I chose dolphin diving, which costs 580 yuan per session and lasts about half an hour. After paying the money, I put on my diving suit with my mothers help. The diving suit is really heavy! Wearing it, I even walked unsteadily. We took a boat to the diving area. After an instructor taught me some key points of diving and gestures for underwater conversations, he gave me an oxygen cylinder and let me dive into the water. I bravely dived down. Underwater, the heavy diving suit on my body suddenly became light. I let out a breath, and strings of bubbles rose up. I felt as agile as a little fish. Around me, about twenty or so chubby grey dolphins were circling around me as if welcoming me! Just now on the shore, the coach said that these dolphins were very smart, equivalent to the intelligence of a 35-year-old child. At this moment, the coach gave me a fish and asked me to feed it to the dolphins. Just as I was about to reach out my hand to feed them, the dolphins couldnt wait any longer and rushed over in a flash to eat the fish. A dolphin even gave me a gentle bite. I felt both scared and a little delighted. On Fenjiezhou Island, you can swim, play with sand on the beach, pick up shells, ride jet skis and parasailing in the air. Fenjiezhou Island is both beautiful and fun.
